Murillo masterminded the Liverpool transfer before moving to Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo has suggested he would not turn down an opportunity to sign for Liverpool, seeing a move to Anfield as a “good opportunity” to advance his career.

Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp last month, is yet to add any new names to his list. With Joel Matip leaving when his contract expired in June, the Reds are expected to look for a new centre-back before the summer transfer window closes.

Murillo appears to be on Liverpool’s radar after an impressive first season with Nottingham Forest. After moving from Corinthians for $16.21 million last August, he played 36 games for the East Midlands side, helping them stay in the Premier League and winning the Player of the Season award.

However, less than a year after his move to Forest, Liverpool are already among the possible suitors courting Murillo. Now, the Brazilian player has revealed his plans for the future in an open conversation with the Benja Me Mucho podcast.

He admitted he always planned to leave Forest for a bigger club, confirming his openness to a move to Liverpool.

“I dreamed of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought,” he revealed. “I thought, ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then go to a big club.’ I had that in my head.

“I would choose Manchester City, but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter, given the players they have in the team. There are also City, Arsenal, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t give it up. And Liverpool would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.
