Brent West general election results 2024

Labor has held the constituency of Brent West in the 2024 General Election. The elected candidate Barry Gardiner won by a majority of 3,793 votes.

Mr. Gardiner secured 17,258 votes in the poll, ahead of the Conservative candidate Sushil Rapatwar in second place, who received 13,465 votes.

Residents in Brent West went to the polls on Thursday 4th July to choose the candidate who will serve as their MP in the next Parliament.

Counting of the General Election votes began after polls closed at 10pm on Thursday night, and the result in Brent West was published by the Press Association at 02:20 am on Friday

A total of 79,937 people were eligible to vote in Brent West, and of these 41,376 decided to complete a ballot paper, which meant the turnout in the constituency was 51.8 percent.

The turnout figure in Brent West was down compared to the last general election in 2019, when 63.3 percent of the electorate used their vote.

Barry Gardiner (Labour) – 17,258 votes (41.7%).

Sushil Rapatwar (Conservatives) – 13,465 votes (32.5%).

Paul Lorber (Liberal Democrats) – 3,013 votes (7.3%).

Baston De’Medici-Jaguar (Green party) – 2,805 votes (6.8%).

Nadia Klok (WPB) – 2,774 votes (6.7%).

Ian Collier (Reform) – 2,061 votes (5.0%).

Most UK constituencies have changed boundaries or names since the last General Election but analysis of previous results based on the 2024 boundaries for Brent West shows that Labor won 8,534 fewer votes than in 2019.

At the 2019 General Election Labor won 53.3 percent of the votes cast, and in the 2024 election the party’s vote share decreased to 41.7 percent.

The Conservatives had a vote share of 33.8 per cent in 2019 and this fell to a 32.5 per cent vote share in 2024.
