Reports: Leeds Rhinos to miss out on Jake Connor transfer

Jake Connor Leeds Rhinos

Jake Connor returned to action for Huddersfield Giants tonight after missing a number of games and with that it was reported that Leeds Rhinos will lose the Giants game.

Leeds Rhinos were one of the teams linked, which was confirmed by Ian Watson with a move for former Hull FC man Jake Connor after it emerged that Huddersfield were open to receiving loan offers for the full-back. That news had come after a series of performances where the opposing teams had seemingly won the battle of the dark arts against Jake Connor.

The most notorious of these came when Huddersfield played St Helens with Daryl Clark putting his stamp on and getting under Jake Connor’s skin to the point where the Giants defender practically stopped playing and allowed it to be conceded a crucial attempt.

In the post-match analysis, Jon Wilkin slammed Connor as he revealed: “Go on man of the match! Do your job! Jake Connor just got completely selfishly absorbed in a conflict that didn’t make him and his team any good.”

One of Wilkin’s fellow Sky Sports staff, Jenna Brooks, has now revealed that Leeds Rhinos have missed out on the full-back as she provided an update on Huddersfield’s position on the player.

Presenting the game between Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants, where Jake Connor was named at full-back after missing several games, Jenna Brooks explained that Leeds Rhinos missed out on the 29-year-old.

Brooks asked, “What’s up with Jake Connor? I haven’t seen him play for Huddersfield Giants since May.

“I can tell you tonight it starts here at the Halliwell Jones Stadium at fullback. He’s also been linked with a lone move to Leeds Rhinos, but that doesn’t seem to be happening now.

“We asked the club for a comment and this is what they said: “Jake has spent time out of the squad for performance reasons and there was interest in him, as there would be for a player of his quality, but we have decided to keep him. with us and will play against Warrington tonight.

“Make of it what you will.”

When it was confirmed that Connor was available for loan, Ian Watson had explained: “Overall it was good, I can’t say it wasn’t anything else, it was good, it was good. Is he happy not playing? No, he isn’t. He wants to play, but that’s the thing, it’s the game.”

He then added: “At some point, he’ll probably look a little bit if he doesn’t play,” leading to loan speculation, although nothing has materialized yet.
