York Region chiropractor faces sexual assault charge

Police say they received information that a person was sexually assaulted during a chiropractic visit at a private residence clinic.

A 50-year-old Vaughan man has been charged after a victim reported a sexual assault during a chiropractic visit at a residential clinic, York Regional Police said.

On Tuesday, June 25, investigators received information that a victim had been sexually assaulted at a clinic operating at a private residence near Brownridge Drive and Wade Gate, police said in a news release.

On Wednesday, July 3, Evan Kogon was charged with sexual assault, police said.

Investigators said there could be more victims, who are encouraged to come forward.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police are encouraging anyone who may have been the victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident. There is no statute of limitations for sex crimes, and offenders can be prosecuted long after the crime was committed. If you are a survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:

  • you are not in immediate danger
  • the person who assaulted you is not present
  • there is no evidence that can be collected by the police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected up to 12 days after the sexual assault occurred
  • you have access to a private email address that the suspect does not have.

If someone is not ready to report but is looking for support, contact York Region Victim Services (victimservices-york.org) or Women’s Support Network (womenssupportnetwork.ca). Additional resources and information can be found on the York Police website.
