I don’t think Leeds United will regret leaving the player in the summer transfer window

A new challenge awaits Jamie Shackleton at Sheffield United. The utility man joined the Blades on a free transfer two days ago, having officially left Leeds United on June 30 after turning down a new contract.

Shackleton, who can be deployed in defense or midfield, struggled for game time at Elland Road last season, appearing just 15 times in all competitions. “He (Shackleton) found first-team opportunities hard to come by under Daniel Farke last season and the prospect of regular game time at the Blades, who are starting a major rebuild, is fantastic news,” said the former United midfielder. Carlton Palmer. World Soccer League:

“So, we’ll see. I don’t think Leeds United will regret it. Like I said, he didn’t play regular football. They have covered in other areas in this position.

“So I don’t think they will regret it. And to say that Sheffield United are promotion rivals; I think they have a lot of work to do between now and the start of the season to put themselves in the picture for promotion next season.”

Shackleton, a graduate of United’s youth system, is relishing the chance to work with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder. “The manager has told me a lot, what he expects from me and how he sees a lot of things in me that he wants at Sheffield United, so hopefully it will be a good game,” he said.

“I’ve played a lot of games in the Championship and Leeds and on loan at Millwall, both sets of these fans demand a lot from you and I’m sure it will be no different here.

“One hundred percent is a given where I’ve played and I’m that kind of player, I put everything in and leave everything on the pitch. I’ve got a few links to the Blades and they’ve got nothing but positive words to say about the club.”
