‘Absolute shambles’: Leeds Rhinos react to show against London

Leeds Rhinos were made to work for their 17-16 win against London Broncos today and fans were furious with the performance.

The Broncos have won just one more game all season – against Hull FC at their home ground, Plow Lane – but were ahead today until the 70th minute when Rhyse Martin leveled the scores at 16-16.

The Broncos then had two huge chances to win with a drop goal but wasted both, meaning the Rhinos were taken to the golden point in extra time.

Leeds then bizarrely gave up an early chance to win after a poor tackle from Ethan Natoli, but the Broncos went in instantly, allowing Brodie Croft to win the game for the home side.

Despite the eventual win, the Rhinos were spectacularly poor and, barring some very poor decisions from London, would have lost the game.

In terms of scoring, it was a pain for the London Broncos, but the Leeds fans were furious with the performance from their side and they certainly didn’t hold back with their comments after the game.

There was a certain sense that it was an incredibly poor performance – and perhaps it shows just how important the news that Brad Arthur will take over for the rest of the season could prove to be.

Others pointed out that the game could easily have gone the other way.

London looked the better side for much of the game and with more experience would have taken two important points.

The Rhinos are probably still in playoff contention – but they’re lucky to be.
