Liverpool ‘making contact’ to sign Feyenoord star Arne Slot has been told to prioritize

Liverpool are yet to make a transfer move this summer, but there is plenty of time left for new sporting director Richard Hughes to make some deals. Speaking alongside Arne Slot on Friday, he suggested the Reds would be “opportunistic” in the market.

But according to HITC, Liverpool have made contact with Feyenoord to explore a deal for Lutsharel Geertruida and Leeds United to see how much a move for Crysencio Summerville could cost. Both players happen to be from the Netherlands, like Slot, although only the former is currently at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Geertruida is a player former Liverpool player Dirk Kuyt has previously suggested the Reds sign this summer. “I think Arne is very happy with the players that are already there and I think he’s trying everything to keep as many players as possible,” Kuyt told Ladbrokes 1-2-Free.

“The level from Holland to England is at least two steps higher, so it’s not easy to make that move. So when you talk about Feyenoord players joining Arne at Liverpool, I think Lutsharel Geertruida would be the one able to make that move.

“Lutsharel is someone I would love to see play in the Premier League; I really think he would fit in English football. He’s got great stamina, he’s great on the ball, he’s physically strong… he’s able to step up to the Premier League.

“I get asked a lot about players who I think are good enough to make it to Liverpool’s level, or the Premier League in general, from Holland, and Lutsharel is certainly one of them. I hope he gets the chance, one day, to play in the Premier League and hopefully he’s in a Liverpool shirt.”

Liverpool.com says: With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley two excellent options at full-back, a move for Geertruida would only make sense if the former was to move to midfield. That would seem unlikely this summer given the brief recovery before the start of the new season.
