Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run crash in Cornwall

A woman has been seriously injured after a hit and run incident in Cornwall. The pedestrian, whose age has not been confirmed, was hit by a car in Davidstow.

It happened on Saturday, June 29, at 8.15 am. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Hendrawalls Lane in Davidstow, near Camelford.

There were reports that a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the collision. She was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

A witness reported a significant number of emergency service vehicles in the area and that the road was closed to the public by police. The car and driver have not been found.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “On Saturday 29 June 2024 at approximately 8.15am the ambulance and police were called to Hendrawalls Lane, Davidstow, near Camelford, following reports that a female pedestrian she was hit by a vehicle.

“This vehicle did not stop at the scene of the collision. The pedestrian was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle involved has not been located.”

Police are appealing for witnesses who have not yet spoken to call 101 or get in touch via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting log reference 201, 29 June 2024.
