Local author Catherine Kenwell launched Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Griefa collection of stories that reflect on how betrayal, trauma and death shape our thoughts and worldviews.

“I am not a grief expert and this is not a self-help book,” states Kenwell, “but sharing our stories can help those who are dealing with loss. I think of Life after loss like a conversation with a good friend, someone who can help ease your burden just by being there and listening.”

The book, published locally by Wintertickle Press, features contributions from Canadian and UK authors, with a foreword by Sandy Joy, BA(Psych), MACP, RPC, MPCC-S, Barrie psychologist and pain specialist.

Through intimate narratives, Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Grief demonstrates the power of storytelling and invites personal reflection on reactions to grief and loss. It explores broad themes of loss such as betrayal, trauma, PTSD, death and illness, and the loss of friendships and relationships.

“As humans, we tend to avoid talking about death and loss,” says Kenwell. “Life after loss engages readers with authentic, moving, sometimes funny and often life-changing stories from those who have been there. I think it will open up the conversation about these universal themes and can even help those who are dealing with their own pain.”

The Prairies Book Review declared Life After Loss: Reflections on Moments of Grace and Courage in Grief “remarkable” and “demonstrating the power of storytelling to connect, inspire and bring comfort to readers on their own paths through grief. With messages about seeking support, empathy and finding gratitude in healing, this collection invites reflection on our own emotions and experiences.”

The book is currently available on Amazon for $22.95 by clicking here.
