Danny Rohl hits back at rumors that Sheffield Wednesday will sign a ‘bright’ Rangers gem.

Sheffield Wednesday have made the most signings in the Championship so far this summer.

The Owls have snapped up Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, Jamal Lowe, Olaf Kobacki and James Beadle in recent weeks.

The club were expected to make major changes to the side that narrowly avoided relegation, with Danny Rohl keen to lead the side to a top-half finish next season.

Sheffield Wednesday have had a huge problem scoring goals in the last term and have already brought in two new strikers, but they are not done there.

While they have been linked with a number of strikers, they are also keen to strengthen their wide areas.

The Owls have already been linked with a move for Rangers winger Scott Wright, with the Scot set to leave Glasgow this summer.

Are Sheffield Wednesday set to sign Scott Wright?

Rohl has now responded to rumors regarding Rangers’ “bright spark” but refused to offer much.

Speaking to the press (according to the Daily Record), the German said: “I’m not going to talk about the name because it doesn’t make sense. This market moves so fast. We have an idea of what we want to have, I have an idea of how I want to play in the new season.

“We know what we need to improve when we look back from last season and then it’s about finding the right pieces to make our team stronger and stronger as we are very ambitious for the new season.”

Who’s spot on the team might be in trouble now?

While Rohl was careful not to give anything away, it does suggest that Wednesday is closing in on Wright.

He will be another winger to add to the ranks heading into the new season, with the head coach ready to have Djeidi Gassama, Anthony Musaba, Callum Paterson, Marvin Johnson, Lowe and Kobacki as potential options.

It will be a huge season for Gassama in terms of proving himself as his first campaign in England was not as successful as hoped.

The Frenchman needs to impress early or he could find himself falling fast at Hillsborough.

Musaba’s strong end to the season saw him finish with 13 goal contributions and he now looks very likely to play a key role in Rohl’s first full season in charge.
