Former presenter and TikTok star Michael Barrymore visits Cornwall

A former TV presenter who has relaunched her career as a TikTok star was in Cornwall this weekend. Michael Barrymore had a TV career that spanned two decades before it all came crashing down when a man was tragically found dead in the swimming pool of his Essex home in 2001.

Now 71, she has made another foray into showbiz by becoming a social media star. Barrymore has amassed thousands of views and three million followers on TikTok, where she recreates viral videos and shares glimpses of her own life – even poking fun at her fall into showbiz.

Yesterday (July 6), he shared a video saying he was taking a trip to Cornwall for the weekend. Captioned ‘Drive to Cornwall with me’, the TikTok shows Barrymore packing up her car and getting ready to drive off with her Jack Russell, Dave.

He was then filmed filling up his car and meeting fans in Starbucks at a petrol station in Bristol. Another clip shows him trying to reverse down an infamous country road in Cornwall as he tries to get out of the way of a large tractor.

In a separate TikTok titled ‘GRWM (get ready with me) for a baby shower in Cornwall’, Barrymore filmed herself shaving her face, brushing her teeth and getting dressed after the shave before sharing her outfit – a white T-shirt, white sneakers and pink pants.

Barrymore then filmed herself meeting a fan outside a static caravan at a holiday park before driving to Carlyon Bay, just outside St Austell, to attend a baby shower. Several fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments after seeing they were in Cornwall.

One person commented: “OMG you were actually in Carlyon Bay!!!!!!!!! I sat on the beach there all day, keeping my eyes peeled for a gorgeous man in pink pants!!!!” with a laughing face emoji.

Another wrote: “I live in Cornwall! A chance meeting would have made my absolute life. Maybe one day please come back, I hope you had a great time.”

While another said: “You’re in my hometown!!!! You have to take a trip to Par Market! It’s the most magical place and right around the corner from the golf course!”

A fourth added: “Omg Carlyon Bay is around the corner I’d love to hit you x”
