Leicester sign Golding from Chelsea

Leicester City have announced the signing of Michael Golding from Chelsea.

The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the Foxes and becomes their second arrival of the summer after bringing in Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer.

“I’m excited to break into the first team and play with these players,” Golding told the club’s official website.

“I’m excited to meet the boys and hopefully I can get involved and prepare for the season as well and improve on the pitch with the team.

“I can’t wait to start training and learning from the manager,” said the youngster.

“I’m really excited to learn from Steve Cooper given some of the players he’s worked with and his track record of working with young players.”

Who is Michael Golding?

Born in Kingston upon Thames on 23 May 2006, Golding began his career at AFC Wimbledon’s Academy before moving to Chelsea in 2018.

His impressive performances saw him begin training with Chelsea’s first team in 2023/24, before making his debut for them in an FA Cup third round win over Preston North End in January.

Golding has represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.

He will meet up with his new team-mates in the coming weeks and Leicester begin their pre-season schedule with a game against Shrewsbury Town on July 23.

The Foxes begin their Premier League campaign with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday 19 August.
