Travel expert claims £6 ‘premium fast track’ airport service ‘not worth it’ if you don’t follow the rules

Travel experts in search of cheap deals have tested whether a premium Fast Track is worth it at the airport. Chelsea and James, also known as Cheapholidayexp on Instagram, decided to use the service but claimed it only works if you follow the rules.

The pair traveled over the Easter holidays in April, timing each of their attempts to get through security. Chelsea can be seen holding a small plastic bag for her hand fluids.

Upon arriving at the security line, Chelsea found an additional lane open. She said: “It’s not too bad. how is he doing I don’t think there was any queue for the first one is the problem.”

A photo from James’ camera saw him walk through security without having to queue. Chelsea’s time going through normal security checks took her eight minutes and 22 seconds.

She said: “Now there is a chance it was stopped because it is stopped all the time. So hopefully he’s on our side.”

Chelsea beat James through security, who ended up getting pulled over and his bags checked by security. At the reunion she asked: “How was the £6?” He replied, “Waste of money.”

James’ final time was a total of 16 minutes and 30 seconds. Chelsea asked, “So what was the reason you were stopped?” He simply replied, “Room.”

Chelsea added: “So it doesn’t matter if you’ve paid the premium or not, if you don’t follow the rules, you’ll be stopped. So not only was I faster, but I also saved money.”

However, the service won’t be fast if you end up checking your bags. The creators explained that security thought it was due to a camera still stored in the bag, rather than unpacked.

The pair were confident that if James had avoided any problems with his bag, he would have been through security within minutes. They warned: “It’s hard because some security lines only say laptops, while others say electronics. Basically, it’s always worth a quick question when unpacking your pieces.”

They captioned the video: “I didn’t expect this twist. Some of you SWEAR by Fast Track but is it worth £6?! We decided to test it!! Save this for the future and tag someone you had this fight with!!

“As we were traveling during rush hour (hello Easter Saturday!) we decided to test whether Fast Track was worth the cost or not. Of course, James opted for the fancy premium service and I was left with the normal FREE security.”

Their top tip if you want to hit the airport fast track? Buy it in advance. The pair explained that buying the service ahead of time can save you £2 compared to buying at the airport.

Another reason for James’ time being terminated was the number of people who were also checked into his queue. They wrote: “There are a lot of reasons why more people were drawn into his queue, and here are a few of them: More families were using this area with more items and therefore more chance for error in placing things through security.

“The day James used premium they only had one bag check area available for two security scanners. As Premium was quiet, the airport was providing normal security in this area as well, meaning it has the potential to slow down a premium user’s journey if their bags are removed.”
