Godiva Festival 2024 Sunday in pictures as Beverley Knight welcomes event ‘home’

Midlands star Beverley Knight rounded off the Godiva Festival’s 25th anniversary celebration in dazzling style. The star headlined the stage as the sun began to shine over War Memorial Park late yesterday afternoon, July 7.

She told the BBC the event was like coming “home”. “I love to sing,” she said. This is home for me. “Even though it’s Coventry and I’m from Wolverhampton, I still think ‘West Midlands – home’,” she added.

The singer closed the three-day event. It has seen the likes of Richard Ashcroft, Sam Ryder and Paloma Faith take to the main stage.

Crowds on Saturday night, July 6, were treated to a special “surprise” – a colorful drone display – which headliner Faith said was “beautiful”. Thousands of people flocked to the park over the three days for the annual event.

But a stampede that led to the closure of the next stage and security intrusion left a sour taste for some, with families reported to have been “trampled”.
