Road closed as girl rushed to hospital after being ‘hit by truck’

A girl has been taken to hospital after being ‘hit by a lorry’ on a road in Greater Manchester. Officers were called to Moor Road in Orrell, Wigan, just before 8am today (May 13).

Greater Manchester Police say they responded to a collision involving a girl and a truck. The girl was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.




A stretch of Moor Road was closed for around three hours this morning. Police remain at the scene and a section is still being cordoned off near Wentworth Gardens.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays on surrounding roads, while Moor Road remains closed. A number of bus services were also affected.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Routes 665, 666, 667, 961, 962, 963. We are sorry to report that due to a serious RTC on Moor Road in Orrell the route is closed, surrounding Roads are heavily congested and services are expected to be significantly delayed, please allow extra time for journeys this morning.”
