TfL regards the vandalism as “unacceptable” as the Surbiton ULEZ camera has been cut

TfL issued a statement after a ULEZ camera was cut in Surbiton.

The camera was vandalized on Hook Road, with footage showing it being cut in half with the camera on the ground.

TfL described the vandalism as “unacceptable”, adding that damage to these cameras will not prevent ULEZ from operating.

According to TfL, any destroyed ULEZ cameras are being repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

There are over 3,700 ULEZ rooms in London.

A TfL spokesman said: “Vandalism is unacceptable and all incidents on our network are reported to the police for investigation.

“Criminal damage to ULEZ cameras puts perpetrators at risk of prosecution and injury, while also putting public safety at risk.

“Vandalizing the camera will not stop ULEZ operating across London.

“All vandalized rooms are repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

“We have an extensive camera network which is sufficient to support the efficient functioning of the scheme.

“Anyone driving a non-compliant vehicle in the extended area will be detected and we advise everyone to check that their vehicle is compliant and consider the various supports available to help transition to greener modes of transport.”
