Cornwall came out strong in the first half scoring three times. Kingston gradually took control, establishing an insurmountable lead. But the Rats finished with a flourish, scoring a flurry of runs in the final half.

“We’re getting better every game,” Marsolais said.

He said the team had to be partially rebuilt after the departure of several players to rival representative team Seaway Surge.

To fill the gap, he turned to the U8 River Rats and said he was rightly impressed. He put together three players and they all contributed, especially on the mound.

“We will have a strong team built around these (U8) players next season,” Marsolais said.
