Walsall shot live as a man left for dead and a murder investigation launched

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in Walsall. He was killed on Well Lane in the Blakenall area of ​​the city.

People have been told to avoid the area as a police cordon remains in place. A forensic investigation is ongoing.




The 20-year-old man died at the scene today at around 5pm. Another man also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have warned motorists to avoid the area around Well Lane in the Blakenall Heath area this evening (Monday, July 8). And Walker Road is expected to remain closed tomorrow (Tuesday, July 9).

A National Express West Midlands spokesperson shared on X: “The 9th July 2024 #WalkerRoad diversion will be closed due to an ongoing police incident. 29 to Bloxwich/Blakenall Harden Road, Bloxwich Road, Blakenall Lane, Blakenall Heath, normal route line. 29 to Walsall Ingram Road, Blakenall Lane, reverse of above.”

Walsall Road to remain closed overnight as police helicopter called after ‘incident’

A Black Country road will remain closed overnight following a police incident. Walker Road in Bloxwich, Walsall, was a hub of activity this evening with crowds gathering as a police investigation got underway.

Officials did not reveal the nature of the incident, but West Midlands Police urged motorists to avoid the area in a statement issued just before 6pm. They said: “We are currently dealing with an incident in Well Lane, Walsall.

“A cordon is in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.” Buses have been diverted from the scene and will remain so tomorrow (Tuesday 9 July), a spokesman for National Express West Midlands said.
