Vacancy Views: Readers sound off on this Enfield business site

ENFIELD, CT — Last week, Enfield Patch asked readers what type of business they would like to see occupy a vacant commercial site at 40-46 High Street. A number of suggestions were offered, including a cat cafe, vendor rental space, non-chain restaurant, shoe repair, bait shop, ice cream and green works equipment.

Among the dozens of comments were:

  • “It would be nice to see a business that could cater to children and teenagers. I’ve been here my whole life and the closest thing I’ve had was Roller World/Studio New York. They have nothing as always. The woods are gone, the movies are gone, the mall is gone, maybe when they decide to start in the train station, the whole vibe might change.
  • “Maybe a non-chain restaurant? We need better options!!”
  • “It’s just not a business place. It’s a terrible location and there are vagrants everywhere. A bakery has the best chance because you have the new Mi Cultura restaurant within walking distance and there are no bakeries nearby.”
  • “Maybe housing would be a better use of the property.”
