Royal Enfield Himalayan Guerrilla 450 India Launch Details

The Guerrilla 450 has simpler components and seems more affordable than the Himalayan.

We previously reported that Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 (the neo-retro roadster based on the Himalayan 450 platform) will launch in the coming months and now, the bike has been spotted testing again. The picture is clearer this time, which allows us to gather more information.

  1. The shape of the fuel tank is very similar to the new Himalayan
  2. The main frame, motor, swingarm all look the same
  3. The Guerrilla 450’s main rival is the Triumph Speed 400

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 design, launch price details

In previous spy shots, we didn’t get to see the Guerrilla 450 up close, but this one shows us details like the shape of the fuel tank; it is quite similar to the new Himalaya. All signs point to the Guerrilla being a lighter and more affordable car than the Himalayaso it is likely that it will have a smaller tank.

As this bike is based on Royal Enfield’s 452cc platform, a lot of things like the swingarm design, main frame, engine and its cooling system, LED headlamp and even the passenger footpegs are the same as the Himalayas. .

We can also see that the Guerrilla 450 gets a circular display, but it remains to be seen if it is the same TFT unit as the Himalaya or the digi-analog unit seen on other Royal Enfield bikes like 650 rifle. Guerrilla’s main competition comes from the capable and well-priced Triumph Speed 400and that bike uses a digital-analog display.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Guerrilla 450 India Launch Details

The Guerrilla 450’s telescopic fork and wheel design have been spotted on previous occasions, but this time, we also saw the tire tread; this test mule comes shod with dual purpose tires.

In the case of Royal Enfield’s other platforms, the shared engine makes the same peak power figures at the same rpm across the board. There are some minor changes to the final drive mapping and gearing, but the basic essence of the engine remains unchanged. Hence, it is quite likely that the 452cc engine will produce the same 40PS and 40Nm in the Guerrilla as it does in the Himalayan.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is currently priced between Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai) and given the simpler hardware on offer here, we expect the Guerrilla 450 to be priced more affordably. However, exactly where the Guerrilla fits into the Royal Enfield lineup remains to be seen.

For reference, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450’s two closest rivals, the Triumph Speed 400 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 are priced at Rs 2.34 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. We expect the Guerrilla 450 to be positioned somewhere in this bracket, but probably closer to the Triumph than the Husqvarna.
