Brent Brennan ‘simply blown away’ by Arizona’s talented WR Tetairoa McMillan

Brent Brennan was able to keep some key pieces from last season’s roster at Arizona, including their stud farm in Tetairoa McMillan. That’s one he’s also excited about with what he’s already seen from him in Tucson.

Brennan spoke about his impressions of McMillan during an interview on “Andy Staples On3” on Tuesday. Honestly, he says it blew his mind watching him play the position, unlike anyone he’s ever met before.

“Just blown away,” Brennan said.

“I was blown away by his body control, his route running and his ability to finish the ball,” Brennan said. “He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever seen.”

That comes from seeing more receivers throughout his coaching years on the west coast. It’s also because of his pursuit in his spare time, given his own connections to the Wildcat program.

“I’m a receiver by trade, right. This is what I trained for. So I remembered him in high school,” Brennan said. “Then I watched every Arizona game I could — my wife is an alumna, my brother played here.”

McMillan appeared in all 25 games over his two seasons in Arizona. Over that time, he caught 129 passes for 2,104 yards, good for 16.8 per catch and 18 touchdowns. That includes doubling in receptions and yards as a sophomore last fall with a team-high 90 catches and a team-leading 1,402 yards to go with 10 scores.

That production made McMillan an All Pac-12 selection and earned him All-American honors. Now, he’s preparing to be just as effective in the Big 12 before being a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

McMillan’s combination of size and skill make him among the most unique and top wide receivers in the country. Couple that with the edge Brennan sees and the sky is then the limit for him, including his upcoming junior year.

“You know he’s a playmaker, but he’s also an intense competitor,” Brennan said. “When you combine these things, you have the chance to do some incredible things.”

PicKell projects Fifita-McMillan as the No. 1 defender. 4, wide receiver duo

Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan reconnected from Servite High School with how they played last season in Arizona. This has now made them one of the top five, notably the duo no. 4 quarterback in the sport, according to On3’s JD PicKell.

“Now these two were high school teammates,” PicKell noted. “Noah Fifita didn’t get the keys to the attack until late September, early October last year. They are just warming up. Are.”

“T-Mac had 1,400 yards receiving last year for 10 touchdowns, 90 receptions. He is a matchup nightmare. He had two games with less than five catches. Translation? They’re going to try to get him the football,” PicKell said. “I know it’s a new staff. I understand this. Noah Fifita and the chemistry they’ve built throughout their careers not just in college, but in high school? It’s going to be massive.”

“This is going to be a very, very strong duo in college football in 2024. Make no mistake about it,” PicKell stated. “They’re just warming up.”

The only pairings ahead of Fifita and McMillan were of Oregon Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson, from Missouri Brady Cook and Luther Burden III and Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Isaiah Bond.
