Loving mother from Cornwall, 31, tragically loses long battle with illness

A loving mum who was ‘stronger than most’ has died following a long illness which she fought until the end. Sharna Lawrence, 31, died on Sunday, July 7.

The mother-of-one, from Illogan, near Redruth, had been diagnosed with kidney failure more than a decade ago. Described as a loving daughter and sister, she leaves behind her 12-year-old son Jack.

David Clarke, a close friend of Sharna’s, paid tribute to her saying she was “such a strong person”. He said: “Anyone else would have been depressed in her situation but she was in and out of hospital all the time and took everything in her stride.”

He told CornwallLive: “She was stronger than most of us because she never let it get to her and even at the end she was on dialysis and said she would get better. Her body unfortunately got to a point where even if she could have a transplant, her body wasn’t strong enough, unfortunately.”

A fundraising page has been set up to raise her funeral costs and help her family in their grief. David adds: “We never planned for it and all of a sudden we’re trying to put it all together.”
