Walsall Police incident live as officers seal off huge area

Police have sealed off the grounds in front of several houses in Walsall. A fatal shooting follows less than two miles away.

West Midlands Police were seen securing the area, which is off Stephenson Avenue, today, Tuesday 9 July. An officer in a white forensics suit was also seen at the scene.

It comes after a 20-year-old man – named locally as Connor Brookes – died in a shooting on Well Lane in Blakenall, Bloxwich, on Monday July 8 as police opened a murder investigation. Two 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man were detained by detectives.


It was unclear if the police scene on Stephenson Avenue today was related to last night’s shooting. BirminghamLive has asked the West Midlands force for more information.
