Leicester have completed the signing of Caleb Okoli from Atalanta on a five-year deal

Leicester City have completed the signing of Caleb Okoli from Atalanta on a five-year deal.

Okoli, 22, spent last season on loan at Frosinone, who finished 18th and were relegated from Serie A.

Leicester have been looking to recruit in defence, with the centre-back becoming the third arrival of the summer transfer window.

They completed the permanent signing of teenage midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea, while Bobby De-Cordova Reid arrived from Fulham as a free agent.

Leicester are expected to complete the move of Abdul Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of 14 million pounds ($16.4 million) following a successful loan move.

After progressing through Atalanta’s youth ranks, Okoli spent a few seasons on loan away from Atalanta – for whom he made 17 senior appearances.

Before spending a year at Frosinone, the Italy Under-21 international also had spells at SPAL and Cremonese.

Leicester are looking to strengthen in the transfer window but were referred to an independent Premier League panel in March for an alleged breach of profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year reporting period ending in the 2022-23 season .

Earlier this month, the club sold Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea. As a homegrown player, Leicester will be hoping his departure will alleviate any concerns about non-compliance with PSR regulations.
