Police are releasing a major update on Jay Slater as the search for the missing teenager continues

Spanish authorities have not lost hope in the search for missing teenager Jay Slater. A source close to the investigation made it clear that they do not believe Jay is “missing to the feared dead”.

Police are actively pursuing multiple leads in this case as Jay is still missing more than three weeks after he was last seen. Spanish investigators may have ended their own search for Jay, but issued a new update today (Tuesday, July 9), the Mirror reports.




When asked about any progress in the case and whether there was a clearer picture of Jay’s whereabouts, a Civil Guard spokesman said: “The investigation is ongoing and several lines of inquiry are being pursued.”

Jay, who is 19 and from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, went missing after he was last seen at a rave in Playa de las Americas, Tenerife, on Monday 17 June. Since the police ended their own search, Jay’s father, Warren, and his brother, Zak, have taken her. in searching the rugged mountainous area where Jay’s phone was last active.

On Monday (July 8), Warren launched an appeal to British authorities for assistance in locating her son. However, Lancashire Police said their position remains unchanged and they will not be sending officers to join the search efforts.

Police had previously offered to help locate the missing teenager, but local authorities declined their offer. Speaking to The Mirror from the village of Santiago del Teidi, located near the mountains where Jay disappeared, Warren said the family’s search had expanded from the Barranco de Juan Lopez Valley, where Jay’s phone was last detected, to the neighboring valley of Los Carrizales .

Warren believed more help was needed for the family. He said, “It’s just us. I don’t have a team. We need a team to come here and find out for us what the police are doing and what we need to do. Our hands are tied here, we need experts. how long can you stay here
