Man United make ‘big step’ towards Matthijs de Ligt transfer as £38m midfielder moves forward

Manchester United look set to have a busy summer transfer window if the latest rumors are to be believed.

The Reds are yet to make any new additions to their squad this summer, but that hasn’t stopped the rumors swirling. Erik ten Hag’s future as a manager was also the subject of speculation, but that was put to rest after he signed a new contract that runs until 2026.




United are understood to be interested in signing two centre-backs this summer. There have also been rumors that Ten Hag could be looking to sign a midfielder and a striker to his squad before the transfer window closes.

According to German news outlet Sport Bild, United have taken a “big step” towards completing a deal to sign Matthijs de Ligt. The report claims that the Reds are prepared to meet Bayern Munich’s €50m asking price to sign De Ligt this summer.

United are keen to quickly complete a deal to bring De Ligt to Old Trafford. The centre-back is currently with the Netherlands squad at Euro 2024 but has yet to play a single minute for his country at the tournament.
