Joshua Zirkzee is showing his support for Manchester United transfer target as the Old Trafford link is possible

Manchester United are looking to land Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, but could also end up bringing in one of his team-mates.

Less than a year after signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, Manchester United are once again in the market for another striker.

That’s not at all unpleasant for Hojlund; the Dane showed more than enough potential in his first season at Old Trafford.

Hojlund certainly needs more help and is too raw to be expected to be United’s main striker at this stage of his development.

Anthony Martial was a non-factor in the second half of the season anyway, but his departure this summer means United simply need to sign another striker.

Several names have been mentioned, but United look set to return to the Italian market for a new striker.

Joshua Zirkzee sends a message to Manchester United target Dan Ndoye

Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is the man United are targeting.

Fabrizio Romano claims United are fast-tracking a deal for Zirzkee and the Dutchman is now just “one step” away from joining Old Trafford.

Zirkzee has a £34m release clause which could be activated, but reports suggest United could look to negotiate a different structure.

The former Bayern Munich man is expected to join United sooner or later, and one of his Bologna team-mates could yet follow.

Reports in June suggested United had made moves for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye.

The wide man impressed for Switzerland at Euro 2024 and United are believed to be interested.

England knocked Switzerland out of Euro 2024 on penalties at the weekend and Ndoye took to Instagram to share an emotional message.

“Unfortunately, Euro 2024 ended in a cruel way for us. But we will keep the positive for the future and hope that this is just the beginning of a successful road.”

“Very proud to be part of this special group. Thank you for your incredible support throughout the competition. We will come back stronger. We are Switzerland.” Ndoye said.

Dutch striker Zirkzee is still in the competition – ironically facing England in the semi-finals – but took time to console Ndoye.

“Proud of you my brother,” Zirkzee said on Instagram, sending his support to Ndoye after a tough few days were removed in heartbreaking fashion.

Ndoye one to watch later in the window

Zirkzee and Ndoye clearly formed quite a bond in Italy and that connection could be rekindled at Old Trafford.

If Zirkzee does end up at United, you can bet he’d love to see Ndoye follow him.

We think this would be a move for later in the window – unless Ndoye has been snapped up by another club.

United are focusing on Zirkzee alongside new centre-backs such as Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro.

Another midfielder is being sought with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte as the main name in the squad.

Picking another full-back may only become a point of interest later in the window, with the Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood situations to be resolved first.

If both Sancho and Greenwood can be moved on, United could move to sign Ndoye – and look to bring that link with Zirkzee to Manchester.
