London baby’s mother ‘killed’ in hospital after 26-year-old man arrested

The mother of a child found dead in a London home is in a stable condition in hospital. She turned up at the hospital at around 2.05pm yesterday (Monday 8th July), having just given birth.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, child neglect and concealment of a birth after the baby was found at a house in Bloomsbury. Officers went to a home in Taviton Street where they found the child.



The 26-year-old was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. A crime scene is in place.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a very complex and sensitive case.

“At this early stage, we are continuing to work alongside the NHS to ensure the baby’s mother receives the care she needs in hospital.

“My detectives from Central North Public Protection are working on a number of inquiries and we are awaiting the results of the forensic examination before we can establish the full facts of the investigation.”
