Family shaken after car shots fired into home as police hunt for suspects

The couple’s home on St Paul’s Road in Smethwick was pulled from a vehicle at around 12.20pm on Tuesday in an incident which saw a front window damaged but no injuries and also saw the vehicle moving away from the scene.

The area around the house was closed off by West Midlands Police with a cordon from Holly Lane to Lodge Road for most of the morning while investigators worked at the scene and CCTV footage was checked.

Following the lifting of the cordon, the street returned to normal traffic, running to and from Smethwick town centre, while the house was empty apart from a family member who stopped by to check the area.

He said he spoke to the two family members, who asked to remain anonymous, and talked about how they found out what happened.

He told the Express & Star: “The first they said they heard about it was when they were upstairs and heard a loud bang and the window shattering below, then the sound of a car driving away.

“They’re a bit shocked and shaken but they’re fine after what happened so we’ve checked them and made sure they’re fine and they’ve been out for a while.”
