Teenager named and charged in city center ‘knife’ incident

A teenager has been charged in connection with a knife incident in Warwickshire town centre. Warwickshire Police say Kai Kiernan, 19, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

The force said it follows an incident in the early hours of July 7 when the community warden flagged down a man who was allegedly acting strangely in Leamington Spa town centre. When police arrived and attempted to detain the man, CCTV operators allegedly captured footage of a man allegedly attempting to throw a bladed item into a nearby bin.

A knife was then recovered by the community warden from the bin. An arrest was then made.
