Fans react similarly to Twisters Sequel

Prior to the release of “Twisters,” Glenn Powell clarified that this film is not a reboot or sequel to the original “Twister” film. Rather, it stands alone, introducing a new set of characters. So fans of the original shouldn’t expect to see familiar faces like Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) or Rabbit (Alan Ruck) driving the narrative. While this might put off some classic film enthusiasts, early viewers suggest there’s no need to worry. The new film not only holds its own, but features performances from newcomers that justify the ticket price alone.

Film critic Scott J. Davis singled out Glenn Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones for their strong performances, praising the film overall. Lou Thomas also liked the film, noting in particular Powell’s pleasing portrayal of a cowboy scientist. Digital Spy’s Ian Sandwell echoed these sentiments, noting that Powell and Edgar-Jones make a capable leading duo. However, according to Sandwell, it’s Brandon Perea who really steals the show, stating, “Brandon Perea is the one who steals every scene he’s in.” Although Manuel São Bento found the story somewhat lacking, they still felt that the talents of Powell and Edgar-Jones significantly elevated the narrative.

Audiences can judge for themselves as Glenn Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Brandon Perea and the rest of the “Twisters” cast show off their skills when the film opens on July 17.
