Police are stepping up patrols in a Wiltshire town center after concerns were raised

Wiltshire Police have stepped up their presence in Trowbridge town center following reports of anti-social behaviour.

They are targeting patrols in the city center and Wicker Hill following complaints from local residents about anti-social behaviour.

In a post on local social media, Trowbridge Police said: “We are aware of ongoing reports of anti-social behavior in and around Wicker Hill Bottom and would like to reassure our community that we are working closely with our partners to tackle the issue . ongoing issues affecting city center users and local businesses.

“Our neighborhood and response officers patrol the area daily and proactively move in on those identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour.

“Sgt Chilton will be working today at the mobile police station which will be parked at the bottom of Wicker Hill.

“If you have any issues you would like to discuss, please come and talk to her.”

Patrols are following up on concerns about gangs of people gathering on Wicker Hill benches and drinking alcohol, leaving some bystanders feeling uncomfortable.

Businesses fear it could have a negative impact on visitors’ perception of the city.
