Crossbow suspect Kyle Clifford was caught by police in Enfield before being rushed to hospital

A triple murder suspect has been caught in a north London cemetery after police launched a massive manhunt.

Kyle Clifford, 26, was bundled into the back of an ambulance in Enfield this afternoon.

Clifford is receiving medical treatment after being found with injuries, but police stressed that no shots were fired.

He was detained by armed police and paramedics on Wednesday afternoon after the ex-soldier was charged with murdering Carol Hunt, 61, and her two daughters Hannah, 28 , and Louise, aged 25.

The women, who were fatally injured at their Hertfordshire home yesterday, were the wife and daughters of BBC Five Live racing commentator John Hunt.

The victims died after being found critically injured at Hunt’s home in Bushey at around 7pm on Tuesday.

Clifford was believed to be known to the victims, Hertfordshire Police claimed.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins said: “This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for the family of the victims and we would ask that their privacy be respected as they come to terms with what has happened.

“This investigation is moving at a pace and formal identification of the victims has yet to occur.”

She added: “Following extensive enquiries, the suspect has been located and no one else is wanted in connection with the investigation at this time.

“We have had an overwhelming number of calls and would like to express our gratitude to members of the public who have contacted us.

“We would continue to appeal for anyone with information or footage to contact police directly.”

The crossbow killings prompted Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to urgently consider tougher laws.

A Home Office spokesman said: “This is a horrific incident and the Home Secretary is being kept informed by the police.

“We keep the legislation under constant review and earlier this year a call for evidence was launched to see if further controls should be introduced on crossbows.

“The Home Secretary will quickly consider the results to see if the laws need to be tightened further.”
