Leeds United confirmed the permanent departure of Diego Llorente to Real Betis this week, ending his four-year stay at Elland Road.

Fans are somewhat frustrated by the lack of concrete attempts to get new signings over the line at Elland Road, but Leeds’ initial focus has been on the exit.

A number of exits have been confirmed, with only one of them having serious consequences for Daniel Farke’s first team.

Real Betis have completed their second permanent deal with Leeds this summer, looking for another cut-price deal for a Spaniard.

Diego Llorente is heading to Sevilla on a four-year deal at Betis, shortly after Marc Roca completed his move from Elland Road to the same club.

Llorente’s deal at Betis comes with a £2.75m fee to the club, while reports in Spain suggest it is to be paid in three instalments.

Llorente took to Instagram to share his thoughts on returning to La Liga at the age of 30, delighted to link up with Roca at Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis:

Among those commenting was former Betis and Leeds goalkeeper Joel Robles, who shared this comment:

Llorente’s move is best for all parties

Llorente never had a future at Leeds, that was clear from the moment we loaned him to Roma before we got relegated.

For this reason, he does not leave the club with the same inconveniences as Roca, Jack Harrison and other players of the same description.

The fee we get isn’t amazing for Llorente, but offsetting wages and lifting any fee should be a boost to the club’s book.
