Isle of Man blast brings 38C to UK amid European heatwave

Britain’s wet and drizzly start to July is set to change as the intense heatwave from Europe begins to affect the British Isles. This is according to the latest weather maps from WXCHARTS, which show countries such as Spain and Greece currently experiencing temperatures of 40C and above, sharing the heat.

The maps focus on July 21, when the mercury is expected to rise again.

Many Britons have been worried about the lack of typical summer weather, especially with the peak of summer weather approaching next week, signaling the gradual transition to autumn and winter.

Since mid-June, temperatures have generally been cooler than average, with the Met Office issuing just one health alert this year when temperatures reached 30C.

However, Jim Dale, senior meteorologist for the British Weather Services, predicts a rise to around 25C in around 11 days, although he admits the GFS weather patterns are currently “all over the shop”, the Express reports.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “The weather models are all over the shop at the moment. It looks like it’s going to be a lot warmer from 21, between 24-25C, highs, but hardly 30C. I can” I don’t trust them beyond that, but expectations are for a pleasant time overall.”

When asked why this summer has remained relatively cool compared to our European neighbors who suffer extreme heat of over 40C, Mr Dale gave a simple answer.

He noted: “We’re on the edge of everything, the Northern Quarter air flow. You could say that we are lucky not to be in the furnace with them”.
