The HSBC bank in Coventry is closing today as bosses issue a statement to customers

An HSBC branch in Coventry is to close its doors today – but it’s not for good. The Cheylesmore branch is temporarily closing while it undergoes a makeover.

This includes internal building works, which is why the branch is closing today (12 July) and is not scheduled to reopen until Friday 26 July. Among the new features will be new state-of-the-art cash machines.

HSBC bosses say customers can use other branches in the city, including Cathedral Lanes, as well as the Post Office for some transactions.

Philip Rixon, Country Director of HSBC UK, said: “We continue to invest in our branch network to make our customers’ experience of banking with us a great one. We are delighted that our branch in Cheylesmore is getting a facelift with some painting, new signage and the installation of new state of the art ATMs which we are excited about.

“We have spoken to customers about the temporary closure over the past month and while we work people can continue to use their nearest post office for everyday transactions, plus mobile and online banking are available 24/7. 7 in addition to the fact that we can call our contact center.

“Customers can continue to use any of our branches, with Cathedral Lanes being the nearest branch.”
