Manchester United’s dream midfielder after Casemiro’s departure, the ‘in-line’ replacement

Manchester United could be about to have quite a busy summer transfer window.

United have been linked with several potential new signings this summer, but no players have made a move to Old Trafford as things stand. That could be about to change, though, if some of the latest reports are to be believed.

New centre-backs are at the top of United’s priority list when it comes to new signings this summer. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Lille’s Leny Yoro and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt are known targets for the Reds in the transfer window.

When it comes to midfield, however, a host of players have also been linked with a move to United. Benfica star Joao Neves has been credited in some reports as a target for the Reds, but those rumors have died down in recent days.

This is mainly due to speculation surrounding the future of Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. United have been linked with a move for the Uruguay international, who only signed for PSG from Sporting Lisbon last summer on a five-year deal in a deal worth £52million.

It remains to be seen whether United will be able to sign Ugarte this summer. Should the 23-year-old move to Old Trafford, he could help form a dream midfield for manager Erik ten Hag next season.
