CCTV captures horrifying moment gang launch ‘savage’ attack on Coventry teenager

CCTV captured the horrific moment a knife-wielding gang turned on a Coventry teenager. Onlookers can be seen running to safety as the group launched a violent attack in the city center in October 2023.

Footage shows the eight-strong gang drive past Lady Godiva News before changing direction and chasing the victim past Starbucks on Broadgate. Several of them can be seen wielding weapons, including knives and a baseball bat, as they flee towards the Upper Precinct.

Police said the 19-year-old victim was at a music event when he was chased through the city center by the gun gang afterwards. He suffered multiple stab wounds, but due to the quick actions of members of the public, his life was saved.

Detectives have pieced together the sequence of events after carrying out an extensive review of phone records and reviewing CCTV, but the motive behind the “savage” attack remains unclear, West Midlands Police said. All eight members of the gang have now been jailed.
