Truro Food Festival will take over the streets with a big return after the summer break

Foodies in Cornwall’s capital can rejoice after it was announced that the Truro Food Festival will return in September. Held over five days, the events aim to give retailers a much-needed boost at the start of autumn.

It will give people the chance to try something new and sample some of the amazing food and drink our county has to offer. The festival, which coincides with the traditional harvest times, is organized by Truro Farmers Market and Cornwall Event Cabins – the same team that brought the BIG Christmas Market and Alpine Log Cabins to the town last winter.

Organizer Stewart Girvan said the Truro food festival will include a chef’s theatre, a producers’ village and a street food corner when it takes over Lemon Quay and Boscawen Street from Wednesday, September 25. He said: “We are delighted to be bringing this event back with high hopes that it will benefit the entire Cornish food and drink industry and the region as a whole.

“We’re busy working with our brilliant sponsors to put everything in place for an epic five-day festival,” added Stewart: “With the wealth of chefs, producers and street food vendors on our doorstep, we want this event to be Cornish businesses will have first refusal locally, which will also help keep food miles and transport emissions to a minimum.

Stewart is keeping the chef’s roster close to his chest for now, but promises some big names and local favorites will appear on the running order. Meanwhile, Skinner’s Brewery will be manning the bar and will also host evening events at The Tap Yard Bar for those wanting a pint after the festival. Hospitality students from Truro College, another festival sponsor, will support the festival team in the chef’s theater as well as demonstrating their culinary prowess on stage.
