The council is working to eliminate freehold of open land

Sandwell Council has published a set of notices to inform of plans under the Local Government Act 1972, section 123(2A) to dispose of land held for open space, in relation to the disposal of freehold interest in open land in three parts of the neighborhood around mid-August.

The council has posted notices for open space areas in Cradley Heath, Smethwick and Tipton regarding freehold interest, which means ownership of land or property for an indefinite period and applies to most houses.

The first planned disposal would be for around 233.2m2 of land on Cradley Road in Cradley Heath, while the Smethwick land would see the freehold removed on around 1245.3m2 of land in Shireland Road.

The largest planned land transfer would be for three sets of land in Tipton, starting with a car park on Albion Street, then open space on Union Street and finally a rear parking area off New Cross Street, a area of ​​approximately 2558.1. m² of land.

All three planned disposals can be viewed on Sandwell Council’s planning portal with the reference PS/SK/CRADLEYRD for the Cradley Heath plans, PS/SK/SHIRELAND for Smethwick and PS/SK/TIPTONLUF for Tipton and a copy of all available plans on demand.

Sandwell Council has asked that if anyone wishes to provide a comment or objection to the plans, they should email the property services team at [email protected] by Thursday 8 August at the latest.
