Manhunt launched after human remains found in two suitcases on Bristol Bridge – South London News

The Met Police are now leading an investigation into the discovery of human remains found in two suitcases on Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Scotland Yard said a man identified as a suspect had traveled to Bristol from Shepherds Bush on Wednesday before the remains were found.

A crime scene is in place at a location in Shepherd’s Bush.

Avon and Somerset Police were called at around midnight on Wednesday after a man with a suitcase was seen acting suspiciously on the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The police arrived less than ten minutes later, but the man had left the scene, leaving behind a suitcase.

A second suitcase was found nearby a short time later. Both were found to contain human remains.

The remains are believed to be those of two men. No victim has been officially identified.

An autopsy was “inconclusive” while a second is ongoing, the Met said.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is leading the investigation for the Met, said: “Over the past 48 hours we have worked extremely closely with colleagues in Avon and Somerset.

“We are drawing on resources from all over to find and apprehend the suspect and I would urge anyone who thinks they see him or who knows where he is to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him.

“We recognize that this has caused significant concern for residents in the Clifton area and will cause concern for those who live and work in west London.

“Extra officers will be patrolling the area over the coming days and I would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to them.”
