Leicester City target seeks Roma move

Leicester City look to miss out on attacking midfielder Matías Soulé after it has been reported that he would prefer a move to an Italian club I WOULD Rome as reported by Sky Sports international reporter Gianluca Di Marzio. The Argentinian, who has spent the last season at Frosinone on loan from Juventus has been impressive at his new side, bagging 14 goal contributions across the Series A season, which has gained attention from clubs across Europe.

Rome manager Danielle De Rossi is reported “crazy about him” and Soulé would pick the Giallorossi over the recently promoted Foxes. Leicester are willing to offer €20 million upfront, with another €5 million in bonus’, but Juventus are looking for a fee of €30 million from the English side. However, the Old Lady may push the asking price up if Roma are to make a bid, as they do not want to sell the Argentinian to a league rival.

West Ham United and Bayer Leverkusen were also seemingly in the race for the midfielder, however it looks like he would rather go to AS Roma instead of moving abroad.

Why such high demand

While on loan at Frosinone last season, Soulé was one of the best midfielders in Series A. Even though I Canarini were relegated by a point, Soulé proved himself to be a dangerous presence in both the midfield and the right side of the pitch, he isn’t afraid to have a shot at goal and is able to put the ball into the back of the net.

But not only can he hit the ball, he is an excellent passer, boasting an 81.5% pass accuracy in the league. His ability to move the ball around the pitch led to a lot of chances for Frosinone and his accuracy meant that more often than not, the ball would get into the legs of the right player.

Soulé is also a versatile player, being able to play across the front 3, as well as further back as an attacking midfielder, which former former manager Eusebio Di Francesco put into full effect, playing a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Soulé on the right hand side of the midfield.

The Argentinian is also confident enough to be able to take on a man and beat him. 102 successful dribbles were made by him in Italy, with an overall success rate of 50%.

With these statistics being put up by Soulé, it’s clear to see why Leicester are wanting his signature, as the Foxes may be in a relegation fight themselves. A possible 15 point deduction could still be on their way, plus increased opposition may mean that Leicester find themselves in the bottom 3 in the Premier League this year.

Midfield options for the Foxes

Leicester City’s new manager Steve Cooper is looking to bolster his midfield after the departure of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea for £30 Million. The recent signing of 18-year-old Michael Golding, who heads the other way from Chelsea, looks to add more youth to the side, however whether we see much playing time from Golding in the Premier League is still up for debate.

Fans could also be seeing more of the youth setup come into the starting line up this season. 19-year-old Will Alves and 20-year-old Sammy Braybrooke have two youngsters within the Leicester academy looking to break into the 1st team, with both players being well regarded within the club, as well as by the fans.

Other transfer rumors coming from Leicester include former Coventry City player Calum O’Hare, who is available on a free transfer after being released, however he isn’t expected to sign for his former club’s rivals.

There is also reportedly interest in the Celtic star Matt O’Rileyhowever Celtic are wanting a high price for the Danish center mid and big teams such as Atletico Madrid and Atalanta also in the running for him.
