Urgent manhunt as police name prime suspect in triple murder

Police have launched a major manhunt for the main suspect wanted in connection with a triple murder in Hertfordshire.

Detectives say they urgently want to trace Kyle Clifford, who may still be in possession of a crossbow, and are warning the public not to approach the 26-year-old.


Emergency services were called to a house in Ashlyn Close in Bushey, Hertfordshire, just after 7pm on Tuesday.

Police and paramedics found three seriously injured women at the scene and tried desperately to save their lives, but the victims died at the scene a short time later.

Investigators said the three women were related.

Police have confirmed that suspect Kyle Clifford is from Enfield, North London, and believe he could be in either Hertfordshire or North London.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “This is an incredibly difficult incident for the family of the victims and we would ask that their privacy be respected as they come to terms with what has happened.

“Although we are still in the early stages of this investigation, we are actively searching for Kyle Clifford, who we believe may be in the Hertfordshire or North London areas.

The Detective Superintendent said that given the serious nature of the incident, the public should not approach Clifford.

If anyone sees him or has information on his whereabouts, they are urged to call 999 immediately.

Police have warned that their main suspect may still be in possession of a weapon.

Extra police patrols are operating around the triple murder scene in Bushey to help reassure the public.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed they had sent more resources to the scene in Bushey.

“Three ambulances, a rapid response car, an ambulance officer’s car, the Hazardous Area Response Team, the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and the London Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the team, three women were pronounced dead at the scene.”

A neighbor, who did not want to be named, told the PA news agency that he did not know the victims well, but “they were a friendly family.”

She added: “Every day we would see them walking by and they would say good morning.
“It’s really sad what happened, very shocking.”

Local councilors for the area Louise Nicolas, Alan Matthews and Paul Richards said in a joint statement: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news that three women have lost their lives in a violent incident in the heart of their local town . community.

“As North Bushey councillors, our thoughts and condolences go out to their families and all those affected.

“We would encourage anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact police.”

The Home Secretary is being kept “fully informed” of the killings and has urged anyone with information about the case to contact police.

Yvette Cooper said in a post on X, formerly Twitter: “The loss of three women’s lives in Bushey last night is truly shocking. My thoughts are with the family and friends of those who were killed and the community.

“I am kept fully informed. I urge people to support (Hertfordshire Police) with any information about this case.”
