The Spar store in Helston was looted while Londis was also hit by raiders overnight

Two retail stores were looted after midnight burglaries. The Spar store in Helston remains closed this morning (Monday May 13) and Londis has also been targeted.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed they are investigating reports of a burglary at a business premises on Meneage Street, which is believed to have taken place at around 3.30am. Entry is said to have been forced through a shop door.

A local resident shared a picture taken through the shop window this morning, saying the Spar store was unusually closed. Various retail products can be seen scattered across the floor of the building.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police are investigating reports of a burglary at a shop in Meneage Street, Helston, on Monday 13 May. The incident is believed to have taken place at around 3.30am when entry was forced into the building through a shop door.

“The applications remain ongoing. Anyone with information that can help is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website, quoting crime reference 50240114590.”

Police are also investigating reports of a second break-in at another business on Coinage Hall Street in the city. An incident took place around 11.50pm at the Londis store.

A police spokesman said: “Police are investigating reports of a burglary at a commercial building in Coinage Hall Street, Helston, on Sunday 12 May. The incident is believed to have taken place at around 11.50pm when entry was forced into the building through a window. board and stolen items. Investigations remain ongoing.”
