The latest round of funding is open for the Growing Great Places program

We’ve opened the latest round of funding for our Growing Great Places program. We run this program in partnership with Spacehive – a community crowdfunding platform.

If you’re a group from anywhere in Kirklees aiming to start crowdfunding this summer, you could receive a pledge of up to £5,000.

Dozens of local groups and organizations have already been successful, with their projects supported by more than 2,500 local people and organizations.

Join our free online workshop where you can ask questions and get tips on running a successful crowdfunding campaign.

This workshop will include workrooms where you can get the support that’s right for you. So whether you’re almost ready to start your project or just brainstorming some ideas, this workshop is for you.

Previous projects Growing Great Places

43 local projects have already run successful crowdfunding campaigns through the Growing Great Places programme, raising over £500,000 in pledges.

Dear Sunflowers

Over 6 million Charitable Trust organized free community workshops of puppetry, mask making, dancing, singing, banner making and embroidery with volunteers, refugees and members of the Ukrainian community from April to June 2024. Together they created spectacular indoor performances and outdoors in Dewsbury and Holmfirth. . They raised £18,764 from 106 backers.

Newsome Center – Acquisition and Development

The Newsome Center Community Benefit Society is setting up a vibrant new community center and community cafe with free Wi-Fi in a former church building. The center will also be an entertainment venue and a small conference venue where people can meet to socialize. 118 individuals and organizations supported their first Growing Great Places campaign, which raised £18,145 to buy the building for the community. They raised a further £22,693 in a second campaign to develop their plans.

Quarry Hill Center Community Centre

Dare 2 B Different is a youth focused organization that caters to Kirklees young people and vulnerable adults with various disabilities. They wanted to protect the Quarry Hill Center and grounds with security cameras and, once secure, develop a local community center for local community groups to benefit from. They raised £6,900 from 23 backers.

Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival 2023

The Slaithwaite Moonraking Festival is a festival of light where wonderful illuminated willow lanterns illuminate the streets and crowds gather is a spectacular firework finale with music and street performance to celebrate a folk legend. They raised £28,531 from 150 backers to make their project possible.
