A man has been jailed for life after trying to kill his own father by stabbing him in his Bradford home.

Shazhan Hussain, 34, of Robert Street, Milford Haven stabbed his father Abdul Rouf in the garden of a property on Harrogate Terrace in Undercliffe on April 9 last year.

Hussain drove from his home in South Wales to carry out the attack.

Hussain was tried and found guilty of attempted murder on 1 February.

He was jailed for life with a minimum sentence of 12 years at Bradford Crown Court today (Monday).

**”Lucky to be alive”**

Detective Inspector Laura Casey, from Bradford District CID, said: “This was a horrific and sustained attack and the victim is very lucky to be alive today.

“Hussain drove hundreds of miles to carry out the attack and had previously threatened the victim over a number of years.

“I hope that today’s long sentence gives the victim some comfort knowing that he will be behind bars for a very long time.

“West Yorkshire Police takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and would encourage anyone who has been a victim to come forward and report it to us.”
