Striker set to stay with Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC loanee not allowed to play against Wigan Warriors – Total Rugby League

WIGAN WARRIORS head coach Matt Peet has confirmed that Sam Eseh will remain at Leeds Rhinos for the time being.

Eseh joined Leeds on loan last month with Rhinos short of squad – particularly in the pack – and has made three appearances for the West Yorkshire club since joining.

The former Wakefield Trinity striker joined the Warriors ahead of the 2024 Super League season but has failed to make an appearance for Wigan this year.

For Peet, however, he wants Eseh to stay at Headingley, welcoming Leeds as a club.

“He’s still there at the moment and he started last week for Leeds, which was brilliant to play minutes for such a big club,” Peet said.

“No doubt he would like to play for Wigan. It’s a great place to play rugby, he’s working with some good coaches and he’s got quality players around him, so it’s a good environment for him to prove himself.”

Meanwhile, Wigan face Hull FC this weekend, but Tiaki Chan will not feature for the Black and Whites against his parent club.

“Tiaki will not play, he will not play against his parent club.”

Chan impressed while on loan at Hull, making six appearances.
