Leeds is to get its first orbital bus service linking the city’s suburbs from Monday 22nd July.

The timetabled 9/9c service, which starts on Monday, starts at the White Rose Centre, covering Middleton, Rothwell and Swillington, before heading east to Garforth.

The route then passes through Colton, Crossgates and Seacroft, before traveling along the A6120 towards Roundhay and Moortown.

The bus then travels to the west of the city, taking in Horsforth, Farsley, Pudsey and Farnley, before going along the Beeston Ring Road and returning to the White Rose Centre.

A clockwise service – 9c – will also run the reverse of the route.

Next up is the launch of the 601/602 ‘Bradford Superloop’ services, in partnership with TLC Buses, which follow a similar circular route around the suburban areas of Bradford.

West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin said: “First Bradford, now Leeds! We work with operators in our region to ensure our communities are served by excellent commuter bus services.

“I am determined to create a better connected region, but this can only be achieved through work like this to help boost vital bus services to link our communities.

“Together with our £2 Mayor fares, this ‘Leeds superloop’ service will open up shopping and leisure destinations to more people on the fringes of the city.”

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority said it is also committed to doubling the frequency of other services from one hour to half an hour, including:

140/141 Pontefract – Leeds via J32

163 Leeds – Castlefield

156 Castlefield – Fryston Ferry

135/136 Pontefract – Chequerfield
