Birmingham’s investment potential at the forefront of rental…

The future of Build To Rent and its impact on Birmingham’s rental market will be under the spotlight later this month.

National property specialist Centrick is hosting an Association of Letters (ARL) seminar entitled ‘Bullish on Birmingham: BTR in the UK’s second city through the investors’ lens’ on 16 May.

Birmingham already boasts 2,862 BTR homes completed across 10 schemes, with a pipeline of around 17,500 new homes, the strongest outside London. The panel of speakers will address the question – What are the prospects for BTR investment in the city?

Jane Morcom, group business director at Centrick, says: “Birmingham is a leader in the growth of the build-to-let sector in the UK and the prospects for future growth in the city are tremendous. We are delighted to be hosting this unique ARL Midlands Hub event to focus on the latest investor sentiment and current BTR market trends for Birmingham as well as the wider region.

“We will seek answers to questions such as what sets Birmingham apart in the eyes of investors, what can the city learn from others in the UK and internationally, and what is the outlook for the rented sector in the wider region?”

She adds: “I hope as many property people as possible will join us at this in-person ARL event to get expert market insights into the performance of the Birmingham and Midlands market and hear candid views from a group of leading UK and European investors.”

Brendan Geraghty – Chief Executive of the Association of Rental Living – comments: “We are delighted to bring ARL members and non-members together to share information and views on Birmingham’s BTR market. The Midlands Hub is growing significantly and it is vital that we bring the sector together to shape the future of Birmingham’s BTR.”

Centrick’s recent Love Where You Live report on BTR development and resident attitudes in key UK cities identified Birmingham as one of the UK’s key BTR centres.

With a young population, thriving culture and opportunities drawing people away from the capital and into the West Midlands, it’s no wonder Birmingham has attracted plenty of interest from developers and industry bodies such as the ARL.

New BTR schemes are starting to take shape across the city at Great Charles Street, Snow Hill, Broad Street, Digbeth and in the Jewelery Quarter.

The event, which includes a light lunch, will take place from 12pm to 2pm on 16 May at Centrick Academy, the new state-of-the-art training facility at The Exchange, Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3PJ.

Speakers include representatives from Centrick, Savills, London property developer Telford Homes, property investment, development and management firm Long Harbor and Heimstaden, the company behind Birmingham’s Soho Wharf BTR development.

Tickets can be booked through ARL website.
