Warning of ‘city center robbery spree’ at the hands of hooded youths

Police investigations are ongoing after hooded youths allegedly stole phones in a “series” of city center robberies. Police say the incidents happened in Rugby town centre.

Officers received a 999 call yesterday evening (July 17) to reports that three youths, who were wearing balaclava, were taking mobile phones from other youths in the city centre.

As a result, three teenage boys – aged 14, 15 and 16 – were arrested. They were arrested for questioning.

Now police have launched an appeal for witnesses for anyone who was in the city center area around 6pm last night. “Did you see any suspicious behavior at the time?” a Warwickshire Police spokesman said.

“Did you see three young men wearing balaclavas approaching people? Please call us on 101 or visit www.warwickshire.police.uk/ro/report quoting incident 326 of July 17.”
